VMWare SELinux

README!
Ich habe mit VMWare-Server eine virtuelle Maschine mit Gentoo installiert. Damit man erste Erfahrungen mit SELinux sammeln kann ist hier schon alles vorinstalliert.
Folgende Infos zur virtual Machine

• Es werden bis zu 10Gbyte freier Platz auf der Festplatte benötigt!
• User: kein anderer User ausser root (PW: selinux)
• Profile: selinux/2005.1/hardened
• Zusätzlich installierte Pakete: vim, dhcpcd, sysklogd, logrotate, slocate, paxctl, chpax, xinetd, tcp-wrappers
• Netzwerk-Einstellungen: DHCP
• Achtung! Um die Größe möglichst gering zu halten habe ich die Kernel-Sourcen (hardened) und /usr/portage/* entfernt.

Um weitere Software zu installieren ist es notwendig vorher ein ‘emerge –sync’ durchzühren.

Die Maschine habe ich nach folgenden ‘Handbüchern’ installiert

• Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook
• Gentoo SELinux Handbook
• Gentoo Security Handbook (soweit es mir sinnvoll erschien)
• Hardened Gentoo PaX Quickstart

Achtung! Die Installation ist ausschliesslich für Test- und Übungszwecke gedacht. Ein Einsatz in produktiver Umgebung ist nicht erlaubt.

I’ve installed inside VMWare-Server a virtual machine with gentoo linux. To get in first touch with SELinux there is a base system preinstalled.

Infos about the virtual machine

• You will need up to 10GByte of free disk space!
• User: no other than root (PW: selinux)
• Profile used for the installation: selinux/2005.1/hardened
• Additional Software installed: vim, dhcpcd, sysklogd, logrotate, slocate, paxctl, chpax, xinetd, tcp-wrappers
• Network-Configuration: DHCP
• Attention! Due to size restrictions i’ve removed the kernel-sources and /usr/portage/*
  If you want to install additional software, you have to do ‘emerge –sync’ first!

Attention! This installation is for test, development and training only! The usage in productional environment is not allowed!
